MAGIC Winter School 2008

This is the 2nd MAGIC Winter School. It aims at providing students and postdocs who are newly arrived to the experiment with experience in the experimental techniques of gamma-ray detection with Imaging Cherenkov telescopes and, of course, with MAGIC. It will cover some of the amazing astrophysical studies of gamma-ray sources that can be done with such equipments, and the analysis techniques which are employed in MAGIC. The courses will be eminently practical. A substantial amount of time will be devoted to learning how to use the telescope's software package with real life analysis examples.

Attendance is limited to members of the MAGIC collaboration.

Come join us if you want to know how those photons are produced, how MAGIC detects them and how our software helps you to turn raw data into a scientific publication!

Participants are expected to arrive on February 25 and leave on March 1, although shorter stays are also possible.

Free buses will depart from Barcelona, Universitat de Barcelona, Diagonal 647 (metro: Palau Reial, green line) at 15.00h with a stop at the airport (at the entrance of Car Park A, next to the Police Office, on your left from terminal A) at 15:30h.
Return buses from Benasque to Barcelona airport will depart at 9.00h.
The trip by bus to Barcelona takes 6h. The trip by car only takes 3h 30m.
