With the most recent measurements of the cosmic microwave background anisotropies (CMB) and large scale structures (LSS) of the universe as well as various other astronomical observations, it is now possible to have a clear and consistent picture of the history and content of the universe since nucleosynthesis. A feaverish activity is taking place for measuring the cosmological parameters with great precision, and for understanding better the origin of primordial perturbations, the nature of dark energy and dark matter, the mechanisms responsible for the formation of non-linear stuctures, and the implications of cosmological observations for particle physics. After the success of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Benasque workshops on Modern Cosmology held in 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012 we wish again to bring together leading international experts on both theoretical and observational aspects of cosmology, into a particularly beautiful and inspiring atmosphere, below the pic of Aneto, the highest point in the Pyrenees.
The 5th Benasque workshop on Modern Cosmology will be held from the 03rd to the 16th of August 2014, and will be similar in the spirit of the first three editions, with a program consisting mainly on a few lectures and long discussion sessions, leaving plenty of time in the afternoon for interactions and research, as well as for mountain hiking and trecking. In the evening, the village offers a warm and relaxing atmosphere that we will complete by various social and cultural activities (cinema, soccer, etc.). The Centre is equiped with facilities such as library, wifi, blackboards, discussion rooms, coffee lounges, even a chimney for cold nights! and modern offices and desks for all participants.
All participants will be accommodated in hotel rooms or in nice apartments managed by the Conference center (1, 2 or 3 bedroom apartments available, for prices ranging approximately from 400 to 600 euros/week). Families are particularly welcomed, and there will be no extra charges for them. During the day, kids can enjoy the mountain and the open-air swimming pool.
